I see. [He doesn't really, not on a personal level. He understands the idea behind it but other than that, well. He'll just have to take Rincewind's word for it.] Never you mind about pay. I enjoy Doctor Chilton a great deal myself! Is there a theme for this party? A reason? Or simply a party for the sake of one?

["never mind about pay"??? Rincewind's inner, capitalist Morporkian sensibilities huddle together with his paranoiato whisper in low, shocked tones about that nonsense. Letting him stay in the hotel was one thing - March owns that - but freely offering catering and music too? That's just - madness! Suspicious madness!

A madness which distracts him from registering any other questions at first, so there's a stretch of silence before Rincewind finally scrambles to answer.]

- Oh, it's for his hospital. Er. Has he mentioned that to you yet? It's opening this month, you see. In your neck of the woods, actually. So I thought I'd throw him a bit of a surprise celebration to mark it. [although considering it was Chilton who inadvertently suggested the event in the first place, "surprise" was a stretch.]

I'm going to be working there too, actually.

[One day March will sit Rincewind down and explain tax write offs and the like that rich jerkoffs exploit the hell out of.]

Oh! Yes, I've heard of his moving. [He's really looking forward to having Chilton closer because it makes his goals easier. But what's this? Rincewind too? Be still his dead withered heart.] I hadn't heard about the new job, however. Congratulations! A step in the right direction, I'd say. Definitely a reason to celebrate.

[Mostly because if Luggage is included in this package, Rincewind will just have it made.]

[which is honestly just mostly terrifying, but Rincewind will put up with a surprising amount for one of his only sure friends.]

But your helping will really give things a boost with the party, I think. I know he enjoys your company, too. It will be on the first, at Lord Baelish's club - The Iron Throne? Don't suppose you've heard of that one.

Heard of it, but never been! A damn shame. Haven't made the time for it is all. [maybe he'll get to meet baelish's man who has issues with killing !!! good party] Now! Do you've any idea what sort of foods you prefer for all this? Bands are a dime a dozen. Musicians, they're always willing to do anything if money's involved. That won't be a concern. Food, that takes more effort.

Oh, well, I... don't know how much you ought to trust my thoughts on the matter. I've never thrown a party before.

[but he'll take a moment to give this the full weight of consideration it deserves, if only because March (however unwisely) seems to be putting his faith in the wizard.]

...Potatoes are always a good choice. [firmly.] And meats, cheeses. You had a few on sticks, at yours, I found those very good. And the strawberries, those were a nice touch. But - maybe not as many meats as I'd like, actually.

[he sounds rather forlorn about this, but goes on to explain:]

Dr. Chilton can't eat them, you see. He's - er, he's got trouble digesting them.

[because he's missing the parts to digest them with, which Rincewind has belatedly realized he probably shouldn't be the one to explain.]

[Potatoes are always a good choice, it's true. There's so much that can be done with potatoes. Rincewind knows What's Up.]

I see, I see. No meat, then. [Not a problem, really. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables in the world to make a buffet. And alcohol. Alcohol is important.] Won't be difficult to work within those boundaries, I'd say! I'll make a few calls this evening about the matter. Best to have things sorted plenty of time before the event itself.

[He's not asking. Probably won't even ask Chilton. It's so much better when people tell him on their own.]

I really do have to thank you for this. You'll be quite the help, I've been at something of a loss scrambling to put it all together. But I think I'm starting to pull the pieces in.

[despite himself, Rincewind finds himself... a might touched. That's just a kind thing to hear. Rincewind still tends to look on kind gestures with suspicion, but... well, this world has encouraged more leniency there. So he'll even allow himself a slight smile.]
