Mister March here has the power of Heart Eyes which requires a bit of information, as well as your permission! To boil it down, March has the ability to see a person's aura just by looking at them, and these show up in the form of colors. He states that "most folks radiate red or blue, purple if they're quite mystical" but some people also have a black aura. There are two schools of thought, according to him, one being that the person in question has a protective cloak around them to allow them to focus on any task despite the other...the other being a need to dominate and control the world around them, bend it to their will. A man who is willing to do bad to do good.
In short, a black aura can be someone who's simply tempted by the desire to murder people, for good or bad, or those who just really like to murder people because murder is awesome. This does not mean anyone who has taken a life will automatically have a black aura! Characters who are, say, in some sort of military/law enforcement service in canon and have killed in the line of duty but only because it's duty, not because they joined to get away with murder, won't have that jet black aura. Or characters who had to kill out of self-defense, etc. etc. — this is only for characters who genuinely do enjoy killing or struggle against the desire to kill because they know they would enjoy it.
So! If you could fill out this form and tell me a bit about what he would or wouldn't see, that'd be great. Two things of note, though. First, if your character does have a super duper dark heart, please don't worry about March seeing it and outing this to the world! That is not his thing at all, he quite enjoys watching the work of dark hearts. It would only ever come up between March and the character in question. He's essentially the batshit crazy jerk's safe space, so to speak. If you'd like to opt-out, that's totally fine! And it won't mean March gets super suspicious or CONVINCED!!! they're hiding a black heart, not unless the character drops a bunch of weird murder talk in conversation. He can just as easily assume they're so dull and off the murder radar they don't have an aura to show. And secondly, since most people are red or blue...if you want to go with either, that's fine, or if you want to get into another color because symbolism, also fine. He's only ever dealt with supernatural creatures in canon, other nonhumans/aliens having polka dot or plaid auras is reasonable to him.

What would he see? Kaneki is this sweet ball of what the fuck. OKAY FIRST he doesn't consider the ghouls that he killed and sorta still wants to kill "people"; because Kaneki doesn't kill people, okay. He kills "bad coffee beans that need to be plucked out". This is a very big euphemism for KANEKI KINDA KILLED A LOT OF PEOPLE out of hunger, out of power and because he wanted to protect the people he loves from those assholes. Also out of revenge. So he killed them. And ate them. Honestly he is super messed up in the head and kinda goes crazy and that's a thing that happens. He is willing to do A LOT of bad to do good and that's what the manga is about.
Also lol what is hiding his heart MARCH CAN SEE IT ALL, GO AHEAD, SEE THE CRAZY AND ENJOY IT.

i wish this was a lie, but he says that in canon.He did A LOT of bad shit for a while (see, the last time I commented on this post, his soul was totes black) and that can't go away so easily, so probably his soul is currently grey with patches of black and white, it looks like sort of a mutated Dalmatian.

Hawke would be purple because she's a mystical magical mage-type (and despite her knack for violence, she actually does prefer ending a fight without killing folks, so!).
Nicolas, however, gets a black aura; he doesn't care for violence or killing, either, but his werewolf side is pretty all on board with the thrill of chasing some poor asshole down and slaughtering them (also he's in the process of plotting murder against vampires rn and has gone on vengeance-fueled murder sprees pre-MoM and all, it's a Thing).
Anything else? Don't got nothing, brah, but if you need to know anything, shoot.
editting b/c ACTUALLY yes I do have a question. Is he still ghost-ish, ghosty, ghost-like in some way? Because if so, reverse permissions, Nicolas can spot supernatural true forms, if that's something you'd want to play with (or something you'd want to avoid, also).

Date: 2016-03-06 12:17 am (UTC)Ghost with the Most — March has a few abilities under this umbrella that can easily be summed up as "haunting stuff." Any building that March stays in for long enough and familiarizes himself with in a personal manner is one he can haunt, meaning characters could have sworn they heard him upstairs but, no, there he is, walking into the kitchen to tell them all about something or other. Only he has to put some actual effort into it, spend time there. Houses wouldn't take him very long to get into the haunting aspect, but bigger buildings would take much more/be impossible without living there for weeks on end. So if he spent the night at a hotel he could haunt, say, the lobby, the room he's in, and the rooms right next to him, but he couldn't just pop up anywhere else. Under this, he can also take on an intangible state that can transfer to times other than bouncing around buildings. He can go from being right there one second to nowhere the next—though with the whole ghost factor he is still somewhere, possibly in the next room or a few rooms over or right behind them ooooh but to the eye and ear it will look like he literally just vanished.
So yes he still has the ghost abilities and YES if Nicolas would spot that that is totally fine!

What would he see? idk probably chartreuse or something weird because it's Rincewind and nothing is ever easy with him. Maybe it shifts like a lava lamp. Pretty far from the murdery color though, and only mystical in the most liberal sense.
The Luggage's aura is black as the void, though. Like a gaping hole that eats light like it eats people. ...If you wanted to give a suitcase an aura.

What would he see? Dark purple? He's a magic witchboy with a sketchy-as-hell moral compass who specializes in dark arts, and while he isn't really murdery, he's totally fine with killing people if he thinks they need killing.

What would he see? Grey flakes and ashes surrounding black because he's a vampire who killed himself once and now is alive thanks to Dorian Gray's soul. Before his relationship with Dorian in the 80s, he used people for sustenance and killed them because he had nothing better to do. During their relationship back then, they managed to curb each other's vices, and so Toby didn't really feel the need to kill anyone. Currently, he's more concerned about forever living in peace with someone (whether or not that someone is Dorian is sort of up in the air) but is willing to hurt and kill people out of revenge or if they pose a threat to Dorian. If he could still hypnotise people in MoMverse, he'd also use that ability to make others forget Dorian completely, simply out of spite, jealousy, and possessiveness. Also, he and Dorian are totally lying that Toby's bite alone changes people into vampires.

What would he see? White-blue like a freaking star. This dude has been alive for 10,000 years, and his adventures inspire many legends, including but not limited to the following: Thor the Thunderer, the Arthurian Lancelot, the outlaw Little John, the Hurler of Icelandic legend, the Biblical figure Samson, and the Greco-Roman Hercules. He finds meaningless bloodshed distasteful but vengeance isn't beneath him if it's for an honorable cause.

What would he see? AGAIN BLACK. Rick's kind of gotten pretty crazy and enjoys his killing when the people fuck with his family/group. Idk if there's a difference between outright murdering or just having fun killing someone who messed with the people he loves. But if there is, maybe he's more of a dark, dark, slate gray. Almost black, but not quite.

What would he see? Chilton is manipulative, vindictive, and has orchestrated murder through patient Abel Gideon, but has never actually committed hands-on murder himself. The closest he's ever come was accidental manslaughter, which a) he never intended to commit and b) doesn't really feel badly for it. Going along his specific color themes, Chilton's aura is a minty blue with a black outline, because he flirts with danger and so does his aura.

What would he see? Jeff's aura may well come across as pretty guarded because as Britta was once quoted saying; 'his whole personality is based around guarding himself'. Although he can be pretty emotional, he spends most his time trying to not be, and can be a pretty big asshole because of this. He's never killed or taken joy from any such concept, and in fact is pretty much the soft and cuddly type other than the spikes of anger. He has, however, helped a lot of bad people thanks to his line of work and can be apathetic about that concept of keeping villains on the streets. His aura is probably blueish; a blend of sky blues and teals, mixed with something a little darker, occasionally bordering on navy.
